CNN: Trump Supporting GOP Candidates in West Virginia and Nebraska

  • Trump has shown a great deal of influence in GOP primaries this year, and is looking to increase is record in Nebraska and West Virginia.
  • West Virginia lost one Republican seat to redistricting due to declining population numbers.
  • Trump is supporting Rep. Alex Mooney against Rep. David McKinley, who is backed by WV Gov. Jim Justice and Sen. Joe Manchin.
  • McKinley is seen as an outsider by his opposition, having served in the Maryland state Senate and GOP chair.
  • Both sides appear to be attacking the character of their opponents very hard.
  • Trump is supporting Charles Herbster for the Nebraska primary against Univ. of Nebraska Regent Jim Pillen and state Sen. Brett Lindstrom.
  • Herbster has denied allegations reported by the Nebraska Examiner that he groped eight women.
  • Political ads are similarly vicious to the West Virginia race. Trump defended the candidates against the various attacks against them.

Fox News: Rand Paul Promises to Shut Down “Disinformation Governance Board”

  • Rand Paul stated many Republicans will band together to shut down the new “Disinformation Governance Board” announced by the Biden administration following Elon Musk’s approval to purchase Twitter.
  • Paul believes the public is perfectly capable of deciding what to believe without interference from the government.
  • A video clip of Dr. Anthony Fauci speaking about misinformation was criticized as hypocritical due to untruths told during the pandemic, providing several specific examples.
  • Paul has long held the view that natural immunity is as effective or more than vaccines.
  • Host Jesse Watters criticized major figures like Fauci insisting on masks, but showing up in photos in public not wearing masks themselves.

Engadget: Apple Discontinues iPod

  • In a long anticipated move, Apple has discontinued the iPod Touch, which will continue to be available in stores while supplies last.
  • The iPod played an important role for the company, first introduced in October 2001 as an easy to use MP3 player.
  • The player came just at the time when Apple needed a turnaround product, and it reset the company on the path toward making the iPhone, which ultimately rendered the device obsolete.
  • Though it no longer has a place in modern tech, it will be remembered as the device that started the ubiquity of digital media devices in our pockets.

ABC News: Russia Attacks Port of Odesa

  • Russia began it’s attack on the critical port of Odesa on Tuesday.
  • Ukraine has put up surprising resistance to the much larger Russian military, now in the 11th week of the conflict.
  • The Ukraine government stated that seven missiles were fired into Odesa on Monday, hitting a shopping center and warehouse. One person was killed and five were wounded.
  • Russia has been rapidly using up its stock of “precision” weaponry, and some of the weapons appear to be from the Soviet era.
  • Putin is attempting to secure access to the coast, but may be unable to cut Ukraine off entirely.

KTLA Los Angeles: James Cromwell Glues Himself to Starbucks Counter

  • Noted actor James Cromwell superglued himself to the counter of a Starbucks in New York City.
  • He was apparently protesting the company’s price on plant-based milk, claiming it was harmful to the environment and discriminatory toward those who suffer from lactose intolerance, reading from a prepared statement.
  • Cromwell began chanting “save the planet, save the cows, stop the vegan upcharge now.
  • Protestors where escorted from the scene by police. No charges have been filed at this time.
